Privacy Policy

TuneSync is designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Data We Do Not Collect

TuneSync is a local-first music player. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to our servers. Specifically:

  • We do not require an account or login.
  • We do not track your listening habits or activity.
  • We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to our servers:

  • Your music library index (song titles, artists, album names, file paths).
  • Album artwork and metadata fetched for your songs.
  • Lyrics downloaded or generated for display during playback.
  • Karaoke recordings you create (stored only if you choose to save them).
  • App settings and preferences.

This data remains on your device and can be deleted at any time by removing the app or clearing data from within Settings.

Permissions

TuneSync requests the following permissions:

  • Microphone: Used only when you use Sing/Karaoke mode to record your voice. Recording is processed locally on your device.
  • Speech Recognition: Used for the song recognition feature. Audio is processed on-device or by the system speech framework.
  • Local Network: Used to discover and connect to WebDAV media servers on your local network.
  • Apple Music: Used to import artwork and metadata from your Apple Music library if you choose to use that feature.

Optional AI Features

TuneSync may use on-device machine learning or an optional AI provider (configured by you in Settings) to fetch metadata, album art, and lyrics. If you enable a third-party AI provider, data about your songs (title, artist, album) may be sent to that provider's API. This is entirely optional and disabled by default.

Subscriptions

TuneSync offers an optional TuneSync Plus subscription that unlocks vocal separation, synced lyrics generation, precise metadata scraping, and trend discovery. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple's App Store via StoreKit. We never see, store, or process your payment information — Apple only tells us whether you have an active entitlement. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

WebDAV Connections

If you connect TuneSync to a WebDAV server, your credentials are stored securely in the device keychain and are only used to access your media files on that server. We do not have access to your WebDAV credentials.

Children's Privacy

TuneSync does not knowingly collect data from children. The app does not require an account and does not collect personal information.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control. Uninstalling the app removes all associated data immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with an updated date.
