Compare across sources to fill in artwork, lyrics, and track information, keeping the library organized.
Sources
TuneSync pulls info from these sources, then compares and picks the best:
| iTunes | iTunes — artwork, release year, copyright, album tracklist; artwork up to 1200x1200. Highest match quality. |
| MusicBrainz | MusicBrainz — open metadata with stable track IDs, useful for cross-referencing other databases. |
| AI | AI — uses your configured model to clean filenames and guess missing fields (e.g. fixing a misspelled title). |
| Embedded | tags already in the audio file (ID3 / FLAC tags) — read first during indexing |
Refresh one track
From a track's detail page or the player's top menu, pick Search Metadata. The app lists candidates, each scored by match quality (does the title, artist, album, duration line up?). Pick one, choose which fields to write, and it writes back. Every field change records who provided it. Want to manually correct a field? Tracks have an inline edit card — tap any field (title, artist, album, year, genre) to overwrite it; manual edits are tagged as such in Metadata History.
A whole album
The album detail page can refresh the whole album at once — no need to go track by track:
- Match the full tracklist — multi-disc included, disc and track numbers line up
- Flag tracks that are Missing from library — indicates which tracks from the album you have not yet collected
- Have AI write an album intro — verifies the album's background on the web first, streams the text as it writes, with a confidence score
A single artist
The artist detail page refreshes the artist — bio, image, MusicBrainz / Wikidata / Wikipedia IDs. Once refreshed it applies to all that artist's tracks automatically, so you don't edit them one by one.
Source weights
Under Settings → Metadata & Lyrics set source weights and per-field overwrite rules. When sources disagree, your weights decide who wins; and whether to overwrite existing values. For example: prefer iTunes for artwork, but trust embedded tags for the title.
Batch organize
Whole-library batch refresh works too — fill in every track missing info in one go. The background task center tracks progress: how many done, how many failed. Apply strategies include standard, metadata only (skip artwork), and batch disk artwork (saves memory). You can also pick a scraping mode — fast, balanced, or precise; more precise means more sources checked and slower throughput, but better matches for tricky files.
History and rollback
Every refresh records who provided each field, what the value was before, and what it became. You can review it in Metadata History and revert if you don't like it.
